Account Overdrawn Notification

What is Account Overdrawn Notification?
This eAlert notifies you when any of your accounts overdraws its available balance. Note: If your account has an overdraft facility, you will receive an eAlert only if the overdraft exceeds its authorised limit.

Who is eligible for this eAlert?
All customers.

How often is this eAlert sent out?
Once a day in the morning until the account status changed.

Can I choose to receive this eAlert in advance?
No. This eAlert is driven by an unplanned event, so forward dating is not possible.

How can I choose to receive this eAlert?
SMS, email or both.

Does this eAlert cover all of my accounts?
No. You should set up a new eAlert for each account of which you want to be notified.

Does this eAlert require service fee?
Yes.

Above-balance Notification

What is Above-balance Notification?
This eAlert notifies you when your balance exceeds the target level you have set for your account. (Note: You will continue receving this eAlert if your balance remains above the target level. To stop receiving the eAlert every day, please modify the target balance or delete the eAlert.)

Example:

If you like to receive an eAlert when your choice of account balance reaches eg HKD8,000, please select the corresponding account, currency of HKD and target balance at 8,000 (+). eAlert will send you an email or SMS at your choice when the account balance reaches the set level.

How often is this eAlert sent out?
Once a day. Please note that the actual transmission time depends on the type of account that this eAlert is set up for.

Below-balance Notification

What is 'Below-balance Notification'?
This eAlert notifies you when your balance falls below the target level you have set for your account. (Note: You will continue receiving this eAlert if your balance remains below the target level. To stop receiving the eAlert every day, please modify the target balance or delete the eAlert.)

Example:

If you like to receive an eAlert when your choice of account is overdrawn by eg HKD2,000, please select the corresponding account, currency of HKD and target balance at 2,000 (-). eAlert will send you an email or SMS at your choice when the account balance reaches the set level.

ForEx Switching Notification

What is ForEx Switching Notification?
This eAlert notifies you when your ForEx Switching instruction has been executed.

Who is eligible for this eAlert?
Any customer who has set up a ForEx Switching instruction.

How often is this eAlert sent out?
When system has executed a Forex Switching instruction, this eAlert will be sent out between 09:30am to 06:30pm for Monday to Friday and at 09:30am for Saturday.

Can I choose to receive this eAlert in advance?
No. This eAlert is driven by unforeseeable events, so forward dating is not possible.

How can I choose to receive this eAlert?
This eAlert is available via either SMS or email.

Does this eAlert cover all of my accounts?
No. You should set up one eAlert for each account that you have a ForEx Switching instruction.

What is IPO Update?
This eAlert notifies you of upcoming newly listed/issued IPOs in securities, certificate of deposits or bonds available through HSBC IPO Service.

Who is eligible for this eAlert?
The eAlert for IPO Update is intended for distribution in Hong Kong only and should not be construed as an advice, recommendation, or solicitation to purchase any securities. It is not intended for distribution to any person in any jurisdiction where such distribution or use would be contrary to law or regulation of such jurisdiction, including the United States of America. Time Deposit Maturity Notification

What is Time Deposit Maturity Notification?
This eAlert notifies you when your time deposits mature and no maturity instructions are available.

Who is eligible for this eAlert?
All customers with time deposits.

How often is this eAlert sent out?
The email will be sent on the night before maturity date and SMS will be sent in the morning of the maturity date.

No.

How can I choose to receive this eAlert?
SMS, email or both.

Does this eAlert cover all of my accounts?
Yes. You only need to select the Time Deposit Maturity eAlert once and you will be notified when your time deposits mature and no maturity instructions are available.

Inward Payments Notification

What is Inward Payments Notification for ?
This eAlert enables you to monitor any inward payment credited to your account. It can track all funds transferred from any international or local banks.

This eAlert will be triggered when performed inward payment transaction :

  • from third party accounts via HSBC Internet banking
  • from non-registered third party accounts via phonebanking
  • from outside card accounts via ATM
  • from all accounts for Remittance and CHATS (Local Interbank fund transfer)

* Please note that the credit amount is the net amount after deduction of charges if any.

How often is this eAlert sent out?
Whenever the above-mentioned inward payments has been credited to your account.

  • to outside card accounts via ATM

Stock Alerts Service

What is Stock Alerts?
Stock Alerts service enables you to capture the stock price/index movement hassle-free, such that you can capture investment opportunities and manage your stock portfolio more conveniently.

Who can use this service?
HSBC customers with Personal Internet Banking, eAlert registration and investment account are entitled to enjoy this services.

Kindly note that the eAlert for Stock Alert is intended for distribution in Hong Kong only. It is not intended for distribution to any person in any jurisdiction where such distribution or use would be contrary to law or regulation of such jurisdiction, including the United States of America. If you are a resident of any such jurisdiction, please do not enrol in the eAlert service for Stock Alert.

We will not send eAlert for Stock Alert to customers who are identified as US Persons and have maintained any US residential / correspondence / work address in our records, even though they have already registered for Stock Alerts service and set up individual stock price alert/ stock index alert.

Is Stock Alerts service charged? If so, how is it charged?
Stock Alerts service is free of charge. However, there may be other fees charged by your telecommunication service provider.

What kind of stocks and indices are the Stock Alerts applicable to?
Include all listed stocks in HKex, including warrants/CBBC/ETF and HKD/USD/RMB denominated stock as well as HSI/HSCEI.

When will be the instruction expired?
Each alert will only be triggered once when the nominal price / index value has reached the target price/value on or before the expiry date. All alerts instruction will be expired in 7 calendar days.

How many alerts can each user set in total and on each stock/index?
Max. 20 in total. Please note users can set up 1 high and 1 low price alerts for each stock/index. Any one stock with 1 high and 1 low price alerts set will be counted as two alerts.

On Mobile, why the stock price at Pre-logon Stock/Market Information section is different from the stock price I see at stock alerts set up page?
The stock information provided at Mobile Pre-logon Stock/Market Information section has at least 15min delay while the stock information provided at stock alerts set up page is real time.
